JAKE

Sh Ch DUNFIONN INVERKIP (Jake)

October 2000 - January 2015

On 28th January 2015 we said a final goodbye to Jake. He leaves a huge gap in our lives and also a wonderful legacy through his offspring. Homebred, by Sh Ch Liric the Jolly Swagman, out of Dunfionn Gigha, Jake caught my eye at a few weeks old and I knew he had to stay, along with his sister Roo (D Iona). He was a wonderful family pet with a superb temperament.

Jake did well in the Showring in Puppy and Junior classes but then decided he would rather be elsewhere and he was not always the easiest dog to show. He was awarded the Reserve C.C. at the GSA Ch Show by Frances Boxall in 2005 and I decided I had to keep going. Three C.C.'s followed, from Jocelyn Ness, Paul Woodland and Graeme Murray, he gained his title in June 2007.

I am extremely proud of Jake's achievements as a Stud Dog, despite being used only a few times. He sired my own Sh Ch Dunfionn Amethyst, dam of Christine Clark's Sh Ch Dunfionn Onich of Clohass. His daughter Dunfionn Macdui Songbird (out of the Reserve C.C. winner Dunfionn Hope) is the dam of Sh Ch Dunfionn Neave, her sister Sh Ch Nethy and brother Nave 1 C.C., 1 Reserve C.C. Mated to Sharon and Tony Green's Balnakeil A' Choinneach he sired the multiple C.C. winner Ch Balnakeil An Cearcallach. A very successful litter, bred by the late Sylvia Ackerley, out of Ch Yennadon Time for Tavy, produced the U.K. Champions Yennadon The Druid and Yennadon Time for Daisy, also German Ch Yennadon Dynamic Dan. Jake was awarded the Royal Canin/Dog World Top Stud Dog in the Breed 2012.
